Beginnings

Beginnings

For me beginnings are hardly ever well thought out. My ways of plunging into projects usually puts me in these predicaments. I guess almost drowning at the age of two did little to deter this development. I say this as a caution, I don’t have a fully fleshed-out idea of what I want this blog to be. I have a myriad of interests that I find riveting and am excited to discuss and engage with. However, trying to tie all these pieces together is a rather daunting task. While daunting, I am compelled to try my hand at it[i]. This is for several reasons.

1.     As I’ve gotten older my interests have widened and become intertwined. This trend sees no signs of slowing and if anything, quite the reverse is taking place. All these influences tend to coalesce into a work in progress, like a jigsaw puzzle still waiting for completion. I wish to allow this organic process to continue its rather strange course.

2.     My self-conception as metaphysician. The goal of metaphysics is to bring all the disparate elements of existence into a cohesive form of concepts. Obviously, this is an idealized goal, one never to be attained, still as a regulative principle I take it seriously. This in mind, the undercurrent of this whole website is the coherence and explication of my process metaphysics.

3.      Three (and probably most importantly) this feels authentic. This will not only be the connections themselves but also the idiosyncratic avenues which lead me to my unexpected discovery. I want this to be as much a record as a form of expression and dissemination. I have followed my whim thus far and amazing discoveries have abounded in this approach. For me that means one thing: stick with it.

Now while I don't have a hard list yet, I can help to give a flavor of some upcoming blog posts. I plan on discussing the turbulent atmosphere in the tense times we inhabit. From the recent riots in South Africa to the hopeful elections of the Green Party candidates in Germany. To discussing some of my current philosophical interests: Saul Kripke, modality, and the philosophy of biology etc. Of course, some art reviews of releases by bands or various artists, critiques of some of these works and perhaps some discussion of my own songs or art.

All in all, that highlights most of the ground I believe I'll cover initially. What happens in the development is anyone’s guess, but I trust it will have much to teach. I hope to see you further down the unfolding road.

[i] A quick note, while this will primarily be a blog Uberty.art will also be a hub for my art. Housed here in the tabs to the top right of the main blog area.
